A Crummy Commercial

jacksonharbor@att.net was the email address I used for the beginnings of the kit business.  The island was still dialup internet service then.  I had signed up for ATT Worldnet which had an 800 number that you called into - they then charged you for every minute of connect time on a monthly basis.  I remember one friend emailing a greeting card attachment that cost me like $4 to download !  But overall it wasn't that bad a deal until ATT dropped Worldnet - there was no way to keep my old email address :(  I've mentioned this before: https://wb9kzy.blogspot.com/2022/04/when-internet-changes-its-usually-for.html So when I finally got this new cell phone going I thought:  hey, sign up for a free att.net email address !  I had never been able to try this before because you had to have cell service to get an att.net email address. Three unusual things I noticed on Saturday.  First: I got an email from a "person" who was interested in this: This was the ema il: The email seems off, written by a machine ?  Or possibly  a machine translation ?  I can't remember ever using the word: semantics in an email subject line. Two other things: there is a mistake on the 6 bit D/A => no path for current to ground or VCC.  A resistor to ground would work.  I removed the 6 bit D/A schematic from the zip on the projects page. I foolishly replied to the email with this so maybe I have been marked as a sucker ? Another thing: the schematic was on a scraped data page found with this search:  "Fm Radio Circuit Diagram Pdf"   But a few hours after my email reply that 25 year old 6 bit D/A circuit diagram had disappeared ! Very weird, so possibly this email was from the goomer who runs that site or they just rotate their filched content regularly ?   I never heard back from...

About a week ago (March 11, 2024 after 2PM) Gmail finally forced me to use the latest online version, here's my previous blog on Gmail: https://wb9kzy.blogspot.com/2023/11/when-internet-changes-its-usually-for.html Latest Gmail ? Yuck.  For one thing, it is slower: interstitial screens = slower   On Monday, March 18 2024 it got even worse.  I had an email in the inbox that appeared to be phishing scam.  One of these "we couldn't deliver your parcel" types.  So I tried looking on the latest Gmail for a way to view the email source without actually opening the email. Nope, Gmail opened the email for me, not only that, it also opened the link in the email in a new window. Thanks a lot latest Gmail. I'm not sure if it is actually a phishing scam but I did report it since it was a .nl site and a .fr email address, ( I don't live in the Netherlands OR send parcels to the Netherlands, same with France), should have reported Phishing immediately without trying to look...

 I remember in the dim past, the late 20th century, I first gained access to the internet by email.  This was done via the SBAonline BBS.  It was really wonderful, the SBA had a dial up BBS with an 800 number.  It had message areas, and of course it allowed the user to sign up and receive an email address.  With that it was possible to do searches and join email lists (like qrp-l).  As you might imagine it didn't last that long.   So I signed up for AT&T Worldnet.  It also had dialup access via an 800 number but with monthly and per minute access charges.  So I was able to continue with the email lists and also start selling kits and eventually had a web site: But you can see that the Wayback stopped crawling my site in 2008-9. jacksonharbor.home.att.net life span home.att.net/~jacksonharbor alternate URL lasted a little longer ?   This was due to ATT dropping Worldnet.  Maybe they didn't want to make a few dollars a month from ...
