Similarities

Image
In wins: both the Packers and the Brewers won on Sunday.  First the Packers beat a winless team by 3 points.  The Buccaneers had an undrafted, 2nd string rookie QB and actually played pretty well: The Brewers walked off the hottest team in MLB: : I hope both the Brewers and the Packers can make their way to championships this season ! Also, I (not being that bright) never noticed that the open roof on Miller Park (now American Family Field) resembles the pie shaped wedge of a baseball field: And that the baseball field roof and the Calatrava "wings" kinda recall each other, they both fold and move: Someday I gotta get down there and see them in person. Anyway, a good victory Monday for Wisconsin. Best Regards, Chuck, WB9KZY http://wb9kzy.com/ham.htm

Coop

Image
Coop   not Co-op.  A book being read on Chapter-a-Day: chapter 1 of 15:   https://www.wpr.org/shows/chapter-a-day/coop-1-of-15-new-digs Michael Perry is a good author - he makes writing seem like something that anyone can do - which isn't really true.  And he is from Wisconsin (New Auburn): Washington Island is on the right, northeast of Green Bay And extending the current prevalent theme of the USA, why listen to books that aren't produced in Wisconsin ?  :) Best Regards, Chuck, WB9KZY http://wb9kzy.com/ham.htm

Tornado

Image
An EF-2 tornado rolled through the Fox Cities south of Green Bay on Monday July 27, 2026 midday. like the start of The Wizard Of Oz    source:  https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/local/2026/07/27/menasha-appleton-grand-chute-see-significant-damage-after-tornado-storm--live/91069036007/ Northeast Wisconsin has seen it's share of tornadoes over the years.  I posted previously about the Tom Mix Circus performance in 1938 which was cut short by a bad storm (bottom of the page): https://wb9kzy.blogspot.com/2023/08/vital-secret-order-decoded.html The Neenah historical Society has an interesting post here about the incident: https://www.facebook.com/neenahhistory/posts/10158291911653225/ before the storm in Neenah The Tom Mix Circus used trucks instead of a train The Olsons lived in nearby Appleton then, Dad would have been almost 8 years old on July 10, 1938.  He and my Grampa attended the Tom Mix circus that night - possibly it was a birthday present ?  Wet can...

In the style of Wiseman ?

Image
Recently deceased: moviemaker, Frederick Wiseman, and actor, Robert Duvall.   Duvall was in LOTs of TV shows and movies - each role seemed to be completely unique although all feature that eerie penetrating gaze.  One of my favorite Duvall appearances was on The Outer Limits two parter called: The Inheritors .  Duvall plays a relentless government investigator of weirdness and strangeness with his trademark intensity. definitely NOT Fox Mulder part 1:  https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x6okyqt Wiseman made documentaries that could also be eerie.  Every once in a while his latest film would get played on PBS, one time and that was it.  There aren't any full examples on the internet but I do remember this from Belfast, Maine (packing sardines scene): don't let me hear any whining about how hard work is in the 21st century source:  https://youtu.be/Tc_Zim1Ra-0 In addition, Youtube recently served up this pretty freaky little movie: flamboyant in N...
