Why the Shure hate ?

$119 (the switch adds $10) - I guess I am old, why destroy something that cost that much new ?  It does seem like a fairly decent value for a professional piece of equipment.  A page on the SM58 design:

I have one of these for the HT-37:

It's been discontinued but I'd never purposely trash it.

So I guess it's more like Shure love or Shure respect rather than Shure hate - I blame the Mythbusters for this kind of activity.
