De-sta-co Clamps

looking at this EDN Design Idea

https://www.edn.com/custom-diy-dmm-smd-fixture-for-low-z-measurements

The thing that caught my eye was the clamp - the article calls them:

Lever arm-toggling ?  Really ?  In the olden days of the 1970s/80s/90s we called them: De-Sta-Co clamps because that's what was stamped into the clamp  :)
I imagine that there are many generic versions now.  In our receiving inspection department they were used for holding a device-under-test (DUT) in place on a test fixture.  With ICs this wasn't necessary but with other items it was required to hold the DUT in place to minimize affecting the temperature or whatever.

Where did we get them ?  why here:

I wonder if Destaco ever considered doing what Louboutin did with their shoes - Destaco clamps always had red handles :)

Trademarks last FOREVER unlike patents or copyrights - although the holder does have to defend the trademark and keep up any required renewals.

Examples from pre and post Watergate: Daniel Ellsberg used a Xerox copier to copy the Pentagon papers.  People referring to the Pentagon papers in public as "Xeroxed" would have been contacted by Xerox and chastised.  Similarly I remember watching the Senate Watergate hearings, Senator Ervin made the remark: "we'll Xerox you a copy".  Xerox contacted Senator Ervin's office about this and he mentioned it in a subsequent hearing :)

Also I remember when my Dad subscribed to Writer's Digest, one of the issues would address incorrect use of trademarks in published writing as a potential no-no.  And a lot of major companies would advertise in that issue to emphasize that writers shouldn't take liberties with their trademarks.

The idea is to prevent the trademark from becoming a generic reference for some particular item or action.

I imagine if the author of that EDN Design Idea was talking about Louboutin shoes he'd say something like: "red-soled womens shoes with insanely high heels"  :)
