working for John Prine

I was watching the  Summer's End video for the gazillionth time:

It's a nice song with a lot of hope - the video is sort of a downer but it ends with John giving his son an affectionate touch on the arm - tears and grins, people.

But as usual when you watch a video on Youtube the algorithm strikes, served up this one:

Several items were new to me:

meat and threes:  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meat_and_three

John liked Dairy Queen (who doesn't ?).  When asked: "Dairy Queen, what's good here?" John's wife replied: "nothing"  :)

John had a subscription to Archie comics (as an adult) ?  :)

And why is the fellow being interviewed (Mr. Kaplan) have the name: Fats ?

When I moved to the Chicago area John Prine had already become a success.  But I knew guys who were engineers by day and guitar strummers by night studying at the Old Town School of Music in Chicago.  Almost like being a mailman by day and show biz guy at night :)

There are lots of folks like that with day jobs they grind through but with creative dreams they hope to pursue someday.  I imagine that the Guitar Center suits have that all calculated down to the last penny.

Which leads me to this video (with a John Prine connection):

I don't know about Steve Poltz's music but the man can tell a story !  I can see why he was in sales :)
