Lawrence and the Trinitron

I never would have thought that Ernest Lawrence, the famous experimental physicist (of the Lawrence Livermore Labs) was connected (a tenuous connection) to the famous Sony Trinitron television.  But these two interesting videos from the IEEE and Asianometry provide details:

I actually have a Trinitron stored away somewhere - a 12" one with a broken rod antenna - as I recall it cost over $400 (at Marshall Field !) in 1977 - that's over $2000 today !
