Nothing about fusion is easy AND fusion appears to suffer the same problem as fossil fuel: limited supply.  The big lie with fusion is that the fuel is virtually unlimited.  But the reality is that they aren't using plain hydrogen, they are using isotopes like deuterium (rare in nature) and especially tritium (usually man-made on Earth).  There is even talk of mining helium-3 isotopes from the Moon !

Apparently fusing plain hydrogen is just too hard to even imagine a reactor that could do it.

Our friend the atom lives at least 15 years into the future.
