World Series
I was wondering about when the World Series would be played in 2024, a search found this:
Then I thought: The Boys of November ? I guess I haven't been following baseball much lately :()
This of course brought to mind the phrase: World Serious
Mentioned in this book by Ring Lardner:

And thinking of Ring Lardner made me remember this book:
That's the first place I encountered the name: Ring Lardner when Holden Caulfied mentions him.
Somewhere I've got my Dad's Signet paperback of The Catcher in the Rye - it's probably all kinda yellowing/crumbly now - maybe there's an audio book ? :)
I also remember reading somewhere that J.D. Salinger was really against having his work on film. Specifically it had to do with the creator of a forgotten TV show called: It's a Man's World:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/It%27s_a_Man%27s_World_(TV_series)
The show was the one Glen Corbett was in before Route 66 (which we always watched in our house). Here is the first episode of It's a Man's World:

Anyway It's a Man's World is mentioned in this article:
https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2016/11/21/the-film-jd-salinger-nearly-made
Apparently Peter Tewksbury worked with Salinger on a movie but they went back and forth on the script, Tewksbury made changes based on his experience in film and Salinger would patiently undo all the changes - apparently Salinger was a "my way or the highway" kind of guy.
All this from looking up when the World Series will begin :)
