These folks must also be responsible for the various colors of die cast aluminum project boxes from  Hammond and others.  I imagine it makes it easier on stage to pick the stomp box you want when there is more than just plain aluminum color.  Also the obsession with tube amplification by musicians must help with the availability of tubes/sockets/transformers for ham radio tube fans.

Anyway, I got an email from Jameco about a Forrest Mims project that pointed here:
