CFL

I was watching the highlights from the BC at Winnepeg CFL Western final playoff game:

I dunno, for me it's kind of like watching college football, certainly the CFL is similar to the NFL but with a lot of weird alien rules.

I stopped watching college football after seeing an epic tied game where the ball was continually being placed at the 20 yard line and in fairness the other side would get the same chance - in effect a red-zone showdown, which side would not score first would determine the game.  Football is a game of mistakes and it's easier to avoid mistakes if the field is shrunk to 20 yards from 100.

I noticed that the CFL has a lot of interesting differences from the NFL:

1) gigantic fields and endzones, 110 yards from goal to goal, 20 yard deep endzone, goal posts are right on the goal line just like in the 1960s NFL
2) only 3 downs
3) 12 players on a side
4) motion allowed by 3 offensive players towards the line
5) wide 1 yard neutral zone
6) no fair catches
7) fans seem to like cowbells

The Grey Cup is coming up next week, I'll watch the highlights or probably the game will be posted on Youtube.
