Island Bitters Club
A grade school classmate passed this link along:

I was only in Nelsen's once, in the restaurant though not the bar.
I dug out some bitters and tried a little, to me it tastes like brown, weak Everclear, just alcohol. But this is a really old bottle although I did shake it before tasting.
But it reminded me of a ham who used to refer to McDonald's Big Macs as gut bombs. And it also reminded me of other "dare you to drink it" type of drinks that I've survived.
Of course it's always a challenge for me to finish a bottle of Guiness Stout. Yikes, the bottles have a little layer of something on the bottom which I assume is from an Irish bog !
And then the non-alcoholic gut bomb: ginger beer. I remember seeing this episode of Charles Kuralt's, On The Road in SC at the Blenheim plant. He was at a bottling plant that made the spiciest ginger ale:

I've got this one can of Idris Ginger Beer from the UK, it expired in 1991 so I probably should just pitch it but as I recall it is pretty spicy. I will save it for a special occasion :)
