Liverpool ?

I heard that the Eurovision 2023 song contest was being held in Liverpool - don't really know much about Eurovision other than there is some kind of ABBA connection.  Also don't know much about Liverpool although The Beatles were popular when I was a kid.  I remember seeing HELP ! multiple times one summer at the Brown Port Theater.  But while I knew the Beatles were from Liverpool it never occurred to me to wonder why Liverpool was named Liverpool.
