Cross section photos of passive components or art ?

 A fellow ham referred me to this page, The pictures are really interesting:

Especially this one of the choke:

  The leads are copper (which makes sense) rather than the mild steel used in most modern leaded parts.  Also, it's neat to see the slight taper of the leads ending with a small knob on the end (to help prevent pullout ?).
