The name Koss reminds me of the 1960s

John Koss of Koss headphones fame died in December 2021:

I have owned multiple sets of their headphones, was gifted the Koss version of the Walkman and even have a Koss headset still in the package which I intend to hookup to the rig "real soon now" :)

Koss was yet another corporate name associated with Milwaukee like Schlitz, Miller, Pabst, Briggs and Stratton, Johnson Controls, Allen Bradley, Harley Davidson and so on.

But to me the name Koss is the one that brings the 1960s to mind.

I had a friend, Perry, who lived 2 doors down to the north. His house screamed the 1960s.  Here is a screen cap from Google:

It had a carport instead of a garage. It had outside, in-ground, garbage cans and a patio made with bricks with a privacy fence.  The kitchen had a skylight - the roof was an almost flat, industrial type with gravel (?) instead of shingles.  The bedroom windows were high up - almost like eyebrow windows.  Perry's room was separated from his sister's with a sliding divider instead of a plaster wall.  The basement was fully finished with a rec room including a piano (Perry's mom was worried about the first floor beams not being strong enough for a piano).  His Mom also had a very nice darkroom for her photography.  The kitchen had a little pass-through door to the carport for milk deliveries which Perry could crawl through in a pinch.  There was a small shed in the back yard for the lawn mower and gardening tools.  It was all modern, contemporary, techno-forward: it was the 1960s.

Another screen cap from Bing this time of how Perry's house looks in the 21st century:

I'd go over to Perry's house to watch his favorite show, Discovery, on ABC:

on their color RCA TV set with a round picture tube. And, Perry's dad (an engineer at Allen Bradley) had a set of Koss stereo headphones, the first I'd ever seen. 🙂

BTW, I saw this ad on the K9YA Telegraph Facebook  group:

Yes, I also wonder where the starter rope is hidden :)
